NICKADAY Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 hi alli have a 03 v6 auto and have recently had the engine light come on intermittently (Ford found no fault) and just recently it has developed some vibration when accelerating hard, also the mpg not too good at moment. Could this be the coils? BTW the car had a new gearbox partially under warranty (i had to pay 50% Quote
gregers Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 sorry cant answer your question but may i ask why you had to pay 50% for a new gearbox at only 24k???if they were willing to pay 50%then surly there was a fault which they have acknowledged wouldnt they honor the whole repair then?just a thought is it still under warranty? sepulchrave Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 .............Could this be the coils?............. Yes. Quote
MrT Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 I had a coil problem and it was in the early Mk2s that the coil packs were of poor quality and recalled by VW but not Ford. In the thread Faulty Coils I had a similar problem and if you go down that thread you will find some links to VW forums where the details of faulty coil packs were discussed. If yours match the poor versions, I would recommend that you replace them. Quote
